Porgy’s Seafood Market is a retail space and restaurant in Mid-City New Orleans that showcases the diversity and abundance of the Gulf Coast with an emphasis on sustainable, wild-caught seafood. Founded by four veterans of New Orleans’ restaurant community (Caitlin Carney and Chefs Marcus Jacobs, Dana Honn, and Christina do Carmo Honn), Porgy’s is the only market of its kind to connect New Orleans consumers directly with Louisiana’s many traditional, multi-generational, and independent fisheries. The market offers fresh-cut filets and whole fish from prolific but lesser-known species alongside shrimp, oysters, crabs, and seasonal delicacies like crawfish. Chef Wataru Saeki helms the restaurant kitchen with sandwiches, salads, boiled seafood, and crudo that reflect the market’s ever-changing selection. Guests also have the unique opportunity to choose any item from the seafood counter for the kitchen to prepare for dine-in or takeaway. To accompany, a robust and playful bar program features from-scratch frozen daiquiris and canned beverages. Grab-and-go items and proprietary spice blends round out the offerings, elevating Porgy’s as a one-stop location for thoughtfully sourced meals.
